“uou : O ν o ! (^. ^)! ☆﹏☆! cute” exhibition presents Lam lo's recent and past creations from April 12th to June 22nd.
Lam lo always uses soft pastels, oil pastels, colored pencils and other materials to build up the wonderful worlds she creates. uou___cute is a mood board about cuteness that Lam lo collects and creates. In her animations and drawings, Lam lo draws and paints animals and plants, combining their anthropomorphisms with daily life scenes to build up one after another “cute” marvelous space. In this space there are：a rainy day for the animals, a frog and a cat's room, a cloud like a pig that becomes a hairdresser, a mouse that picks mushrooms, a dog that sweeps the floor, a cat that hides in a pocket .....
Her work is always associated with “cuteness”, “anthropomorphism” and “nostalgia”. The function of words is attempted to be pictorialized in the context of “cuteness”, bringing the viewer completely into the surreal space constructed by the creator. At the same time, the composition of Kaomoji is a pictorialization of textual symbols: completely or partially abandoning the ideographic function of text, disassembling it or using it directly as visual symbols to form patterns, and conveying emotions and meanings as pictorial symbols through stylistic similarities. Some meanings were lost and new meanings were created when words and animal symbols were pictorialized. In the long past, people have always tried to symbolize words with plants and animals to give people the space to imagine such images. “Nostalgia” is also a modern experience of time, which connects us to some common but individual distant memories through this common experience: watching Lam lo's work always takes us back to the early retro 90's, while ‘Lovely’ constructs a new meaning. “Lovely” also builds a new territory: one in which the viewer can redefine any identity, between the quirky and the lovely, the human and the non-human....
Lam lo's animations are always made up of moments of pleasure, ephemeral fragments stacked up to form a piece of memory and fantasy. The gallery also wants to emphasize the happiness and warmth of the moment of viewing. Can “cuteness” provide a refuge? Can “cute” bring a sense of belonging and community, sharing and empathy? And in the current context of chaos and confusion, can “cute” somehow be a countervailing force? Showing the choice of “cuteness”: like when we hear the sound of a door opening and closing, we think it's music.

Lam lo 的创作总是用软粉彩、油画棒、彩色铅笔等材料构建出她创造的奇妙世界，uou___cute 是 Lam lo 收集和创作的关于可爱的心情板。Lam lo 在她的动画和绘画中：绘画动物植物把它们拟人化和日常生活的场景结合在一起，构建出一个又一个关于“可爱”的奇妙空间。在这里面：动物们的下雨天，青蛙和猫的房间，和猪一样的云朵成为发型师，采蘑菇的老鼠，扫地的狗，躲在口袋里的猫….
她的作品总和“可爱”、“拟人化”以及“怀旧”相互关联。文字的功能在“可爱”的语境里尝试被图像化，带观众完全进入创作者构建的超现实的空间内。同时颜文字在组成上属于文字符号的图像化：完全或部分放弃文字的表意功能，将其拆解或直接作为视觉符号去组成图案，并通过造型的相似性作为图像符号来传达情绪和意义。文字和动物符号化为图像的时候，丢失了一些意义，也创造了一些新的意义。在悠长的过往时期里，人们总是尝试把带有植物和动物的文字符号化，去给予人们对于这样的形象的想象空间。而“怀旧”也是一种现代性的时间经验，通过这种共同的体验把我们连接到一些共同但又具有个体性的遥远记忆中：观看Lam lo的作品总会把我们带回早期的复古的90年代，而“可爱”也构建出一个新的领域：让观众在其中重新定义任何身份，在古怪与可爱，人与非人…之间的相互转化。
Lam lo 的动画总是以一段段片刻的快乐时光构成，短暂的片段堆叠构成了一段段记忆和幻想。而展厅也想要去强调观看当下的快乐和温暖的感受，“可爱”是否可以提供一个避难所？“可爱”是否可以带来归属感和社区感、分享和同理心？而在现在胡乱而困惑的背景下，“可爱”在某种程度上是否可以成为一种对抗的力量？展示“可爱”的选择：就像听到开门关门的声音的时候，我们认为这是音乐。

In the preparation of this exhibition, we added sewing to our previous work to make three-dimensional toys. The process of sewing is about weaving and passing and presenting ‘love’ into a huge three-dimensional doll in the exhibition space.
一切都diy！在这次展览的准备过程中，我们除了以往的工作之外，我们加入了缝纫制作立体玩具的工作。缝纫的过程是关于“爱”的编织和传递以及呈现，变成一个个巨大的立体玩偶出现在展厅中。
Kaomoji is a kind of re-picturisation of symbols that abandons the original ideographic function of words, and in the Western font designed for this exhibition, symbols that are often used in Kaomoji, which have visual representations, are reintroduced as ideograms. While maintaining the ideograms, the emotions of the Kaomoji are deliberately allowed to overflow, delivering a vague yet warm message in a kind of middle ground, which grows and echoes in the works of uou___cute.
In the design of the exhibition catalogue: we chose square origami paper, this kind of folding method of ‘East, south, west, north’ seems to be a symbolic gesture for our ‘nostalgic’ millennium era, we hope to use this symbol to echo with the background of the creator's creation, so that everyone will be able to enjoy the exhibition in the same way as we do. 颜文字是舍弃文字原本表意功能的一种符号的再图像化，在为本次展览所设计的西文字体里，将颜文字中经常被使用即带有视觉表征的符号重新作为表意文字融入。在保持表意的同时特意让颜文字的情绪溢出，在一种中间地带传递模糊又温暖的讯息，并在uou___cute的作品里生长与呼应。
在展册的设计中：我们选择了正方形的折纸，这样的“东南西北折角”的折纸方式似乎成为了我们对于“怀旧”千禧年时代的一个标志性的符号，我们希望用这样的符号和创作者创作的背景相呼应，让大家在观看展览的过程中尝试阅读，折叠，游戏，重新展开。
