Introduction:
"Circular Path" is an exhibition of recent works by yiwen, running from 22 July to 3 August. The exhibition presents the artist's exploration of the intertwined trajectories of natural growth and human interference with nature, continuing her observations and creations on nature, organisms, the environment, and human intervention.
Where humans can tread, complete "nature" does not exist. In this process, she is fascinated by the traces left in nature by human intervention, and also tries to take elements directly from nature to create 'artificial landscapes', and this fascination with artificial traces and absurdity is present in her work. Plants are constantly superimposed and grafted on as cover in yiwen's work, which also acts as a response to the creator's social understanding of nature as a form of 'regeneration'.
The discussion and creation of 'nature' have been present in most artistic practices, and the discussion and reflection on the relationship between man and nature have given people more possibilities to understand nature: it is taken for granted that nature is harmonious, but underneath this harmony, there are countless individual confrontations, different tensions of life coexisting in one environment, and the involvement of man exacerbates this confrontation. The confrontation is also exacerbated by human involvement. At the same time, the environment is invisible, and for aquatic plants, the medium of water is their natural environment, a desirable element that shapes all their growth trends. The existence of living things is always uncertain, even if the environment necessary for their life is replicated, there is no guarantee that it will be the same in a short time, they will change or even die, and this uncertainty is precisely the link between the act of intervention in yiwen's work and the relationship she creates with the organism. Temporality becomes the dark thread of her work, the transformation of living things, just as a human observation of nature is understood. yiwen attempts to use the organism as a medium to articulate something universal, to reproduce and reconstruct this landscape, and in this process of reproduction and repetition to give the viewer space to consider the relationship between the individual and nature.
