Breeze through the window
Date:
8 July- 8 October open24 hours
Address:
cusp. 79 Fengshan Rd, Hangzhou, China, 310000
Artists:
Qindi Hu
Introduction:
The window is one of the few fields that can be occupied and dominated by an individual within the framework of a grand narrative. Whether it is a house, a workplace or a shop window, conscious or unconscious self-expression is reflected through the windows, forming an urban landscape constructed by a living and diverse community apart from the official discourse, and assembled into a perceptual map of real-life experience. "Window Reflected Project" is a long-term project jointly initiated by cusp. and Carlie Chang, aiming to invite artists and participants from different backgrounds to search and recreate various "Windows" in Hangzhou so as to observe, discover, explore and research to establish a deeper connection with the city. Each season, we will focus on the "Windows" of different forms and places in the city, create a "timed view" and guide map, share an emotion or spend some time with people.
The first session of the "Window Reflected Project" begins in summer, presented by artist Hu Qindi. The work's visual language refers to the coloured glass and the lacquer glue painting in childhood memories. At the same time, the theme of the creation relates to plants and animals, as well as mythical creatures, flowers and other elements the artist imagines as inspired by the surrounding environment. The Chinese title is pictographic of "breeze through the window," calling the poetry of Hu Qindi's practices. This project takes place in three locations: Schein Space, cusp. and the Oyster Books. Through these "windows" located near West Lake, Phoenix Mountain and Qiantang River, we hope to open up the observation and exploration of the city, respectively.
