Introduction:

The exhibition "Dal Segno" brings together recent works by Zhang An and runs from 1 July to 21 August. His work is filled with images of water and mist, plants and insects, which together create a map that captures light. Through his photographs, the relationship between man and nature is revitalised. At the same time the creator's gaze on the world and nature offers new possibilities for re-examining urban space.

The Dal Segno, also known as "D.S.", is a musical notation that refers to the repetition from the notation, indicating that the movement is played to the "D.S." notation and then returned to the previous notation and repeated again. In Zhang An's images, vines are used as markers for walks, and the brief repetition of some scenes also attempts to bring a pause and a circular rhythm to the entire viewing path. At the same time, by collating the artist's photographs, we hope to present images of nature that unfold over time, which will change over the course of the exhibition, showing the alternating landscape of morning and night. If Zhang An's images connect us visually with nature, we also want to make the gallery space an extension of natural space by flipping the space inside and out.

In The Poetics of Space, Bashra refers to nature as having a psychological transcendence. The forest in particular, through the interlocking trunks and branches through the interlacing trunks and branches, it extends outwards into a mysterious space, a space that is blinded to the eye but transparent to the action.  In Zhang An's photographs, walking becomes the link between all the threads. He walks in the places where the city and nature meet, collecting the light that shines through, collecting leaves, cobwebs and dewdrops that are illuminated by light. We are able to enter deeper and more hidden areas, to reach the other side where all dreams and fantasies arise.
