Yoko Yuki
Artist Talk: Yoko Yuki
Yoko Yuki arrives in Hangzhou ! (o^^o)
This artist talk presents her recent animation works and methods. In her practice, images are constantly in transformation. Through drawing, paper cutting, and sound collage, she transforms small everyday experiences—walking, memory, and relationships between humans and animals—into a visual language between narrative and poetry. In this talk, she will combine specific works and processes to show how animation begins from hand movements and gradually unfolds through repetition and transformation. Transformation, chance, and the flow of time not only structure the works but also become a continuous mode of viewing. The talk will cover: materials and methods of animation, the relationship between sound and image, how everyday experience becomes image, and how “seeing” shifts and continues within the work. Selected fragments, sketches, and working processes will be shown, followed by an open conversation ^_^! Talking and meeting are always the best things.

Exchange Diary Animation
How would you imagine someone else's diary?
In this workshop, each participant will write a short diary entry and then randomly exchange it with someone else. Using only the written words, participants will imagine the scenes behind the diary, expand them freely, transform their interpretations into a sequence of drawings, and bring them to life through a simple frame-by-frame animation. For example, if someone writes, "I had breakfast this morning," one person might draw a warm loaf of bread, while another might imagine breakfast flying through the sky. This workshop invites everyone to take part in a playful exploration of memory, translation, and imagination. As words are interpreted and reimagined by someone else, what new images and stories might they become?
